Itzehoe station mission

The station missions in Kiel, Neumünster and Itzehoe and the Mobil SH station mission are diaconal institutions run by the Protestant and Catholic churches. They are run by Diakonisches Werk Altholstein and, with the exception of the Mobil SH station mission, Caritas.

The station missions offer needs-based assistance to travelers and station visitors. As a specialist center for referrals, the station mission is networked with all diaconal and social institutions in Kiel, Neumünster and Itzehoe. The work of the station mission is characterized by quick and unconventional action. This also includes the Bahnhofsmission Mobil SH service.

At Bahnhofsmission Mobil SH, trained volunteers not only support passengers on the platform as usual, but also accompany them throughout their train journey in Schleswig-Holstein. The service is aimed at anyone who is not (or no longer) confident enough to travel alone by train: children traveling alone, parents with several children, senior citizens who have not travelled by train for a long time, people who are not able to walk well and others. The staff at Bahnhofsmission Mobil SH are also there to help in stressful situations, such as traveling to a funeral.

The service is free of charge for travelers on regional services. The trip should be registered two weeks in advance, a written agreement ensures a smooth process, regulates responsibilities and, if accompanying children, the duty of supervision.
